10- Multicultural

I want to tell you why I have included this section in our range.

When I arrived in Australia as an immigrant I saw Australian indigenous art for the first time in my life.

I love the use of colour and the striking, often deceptively simple looking designs. Of course, this imagery hides a wealth of information and knowledge.

As an artist, I am interested in layers of meaning and symbolism and have been researching symbols for my own practice for some time.

Sooner or later my personal interests inform, to a certain degree, my designs for the educational toys I make.

I want to make this generally available knowledge easily available to young children to help foster interest, understanding and curiosity about this ancient and fascinating living part of Australia.

As a migrant and frequent traveler, I understand the notion of ‘being other’ but I have also learned that people are the same wherever I go. We want the same things from life: being accepted for who we are, no matter where we’re from, what colour we are, what we believe in.

Our values as an adult are formed in our early years; by taking away ‘otherness’ and making it a natural part of our daily life we can become ‘togetherness’ without taking away the interesting differences that make us unique.

This section has various multicultural products including Indigenous Australian inspired items.

I hope you enjoy my products!
